LightbulbThe beautiful Melinda Messenger appeared on ITV1’s Loose Women today to talk about the Lenor campaign she is helping to promote, stressing that every little helps with the flight against Climate Change.

She chatted with Jackie Brambles, Coleen Nolan, Carol McGiffin and Jane McDonald about how just washing your clothes on a lower temperature or not leaving a phone charger plugged in can make alot of difference.
She, as this was in association with Lenor, spoke of using concentrated washing detergent, as the smaller bottles reduce packaging, manufacturing and transportation costs. When Jane McDonald pointed out that this was down to the manufacturer not the consumer, Melinda was quick to say that ultimately it is our choice what we buy.
It’s quite obvious that as much as manufacturers may want to be green (for PR purposes or out of genuine concern) they’re not going to stop producing well selling products. So they will keep the tradional packaging on the shelves and give us the option between this and a smaller concentrated version. And if we all start buying the concentrated version, then hopefully in time they will see fit to remove the bulkier original.
When questioned Melinda also adamantly stated that it was the worst excuse possible to claim that as a single individual you won’t make a difference so you needn’t bother. And I agree - not boiling too much water might seem like a drop in the ocean, but we can all chose to believe we can’t help, or we can all try our best and let the results add up.
Melinda finished by saying she is also working with Action Aid (based minutes away from me in Somerset as I write this) and has just returned from Malawi where as a mother of a 3 year old and 7 year old, seeing homeless 5 year olds living on the streets was really a life changing experience for her. On her return she said it has truly made her realise just how much we waste and how grateful some people would be for it. So ok - she might have clocked up some air miles going over there - but we’ll consider letting her off if she goes around preaching on day time TV!

I’ve just checked out the Lenor website and found the Fresh Living website, with these links which may be of particular interest:
