How it works

How Hot on Earth Works

Carbon Offsetting means attempting to make amends for the amount of Carbon Dioxide you emit into the atmosphere. It works by contributing to Carbon Offset Projects, such as supporting a hydro-power scheme somewhere in the world, enabling the production of less Greenhouse Gases in the future.

We set up Hot on Earth to give you the opportunity to contribute towards offsetting your emissions for free by shopping via our site.

Shop with Us

Our shopping directory consists of many of your favourite high street shops as well as many established web-only brands. For every purchase you make from one of these retailers via our site, a percentage of your payment is passed onto a carbon offsetting scheme. You pay no extra than you would from shopping from this store normally; the donation comes from the store themselves.

You can shop safely with well known retailers such as Tesco, Asda, Marks and Spencer, Dixons, Currys, Virgin, Cadbury, Robert Dyas, and CDWOW, to name a few.

You can even choose from a list of Projects which scheme you support. And we'll of course let you know (if you choose to leave your email address) how much your purchase has raised towards helping fight global warming.

Why not buy your car or home insurance through us? Or hunt down that novel birthday gift? Whatever you purchase you will not spend a penny more than you would from going to the retailer directly - but by going through Hot on Earth you can be sure that you are making a contribution to an environmentally aware organisation from a list of schemes spanning the globe.

About us and Our Critics

To learn a little bit more about us and why we setup this website please see 'about us'.

We really believe in this idea of carbon offset shopping and see it as a very achievable concept that can fit alongside people's lives. We have to make the minimum of effort, but at the same time raise money for the environment! But not everyone sees it that way...
