Friends of the Earth - Climate Change

Climate Change

Friends of the Earth are one of the most well known and respected environmental organisations. They were formed in 1971 and since then have won battles both large and small including:

  • Getting a grip on climate change
  • Laws to bring recycling to your doorstep
  • Warmer, more energy efficient homes
  • Protecting our countryside
  • Keeping genetically modified food off the menu
  • Persuading big companies to behave better

Their aim is for a healthy planet and a good life for everyone living on it. They aim to achieve it by persuading government and the economy to give people a fair deal.

What they stand for

Friends of the Earth stand for three big ideas:

  • There is a tomorrow - We need to use the planet like there is a tomorrow. This means living within the limits of the natural world.
  • Everyone gets a fair share - Everyone, everywhere, now and tomorrow, deserves to have a good life.
  • Change the rules - We need to change the rules so that the economy works for people and the environment, not pit one against the other.
Friends of the Earth

Over 90% of their income comes from individuals - people like you. The rest comes from events, grants and trading. This is why we feel that Friends of the Earth are a great organisation to support, not only in the fight against global warming, but to look after our planet.
