Greenwash (or Greenwashing) is a term that first appeared in the early 1990's and is used by environmentalists to describe the deceptive marketing techniques used by large corporations in their attempts to appear to be trying to save the environment, while really doing untold damange behind the scenes and making little effort to change. Spinning their public image to create positive publicity, but failing to deliver on promises in any real or effective way.
